Cannot see other computers network windows 7

Occasionally the workstations exhibiting these symptoms show errors that their connection to the FreeNAS server has failed and only rebooting resolves the issue. All other workstations on the network use identical Windows 7 Professional installations and never have these problems. I've checked all machines and they're not using Home Groups. Temporarily disabling the firewall on the workstations with the issue made no difference, so I know this has nothing to do with the firewall settings.

Machines "see" each order by virtue of the fact that they will regularly broadcast their presence to the other computers in their Workgroup. This has nothing to do with the actual connectivity itself. Or do "Connect network drive" by manually entering the path. What is worrying are the dropped connections. This indicates that something strange is going on with those particular machines. A common cause of such issues is power-management.

Often Windows 7 will default to disabling the LAN adapter temporarily while "saving power". This doesn't always work well resulting in just the sort of disconnect behavior that you are seeing. So first check if the NIC driver has a Power-management setting and disable it if it is on. If there is no such setting it is disabled anyway. Another possibility is a NIC with a flaky driver. Sometimes the driver is perfectly fine, but the TCP checksum off-loading function if present is causing more problems than it's worth.

I had the same problem on W7pro, but restarting Computer browser service didn't help. I found my fix here by enabling smbv1 and smbv2 Run command prompt as Administrator. As you say, all others machines are using the same Windows installation and don't have the same problem.

I hope this may work for you. It is also better then using an ip address as this is when this problem tends to show up when rebooting a complete network ip address can change and it can take afew minutes to an hour or a day for network neighbor hood to wake up sometimes As I said this is an intermittent problem and relatively rare i have found most home networking is better to use the computer name rather then its ip address. I use workgroup sharing and avoid home, office or public.

I just want to share my workgroup files, folders and drives and configure my own permissions and security settings from a workgroup and be free of Microsofts way of doing things. Apple devices are usually very good at detecting other Apple devices, thanks to the Apple Bonjour networking service, and it can usually detect other Windows and Linux PCs, too. If you want to see other computers on macOS, you can do this by clicking the Network tab in the core macOS Finder app.

Once checked, you should be able to see a Connected servers tab in Finder, where your connected PC will be shown for you to access. In the Network settings menu, check your connection type in the left-hand menu—the icon next to your connection should be green. To check if your PC can see other devices, you can use the arp-scan network scanning tool to scan your network for devices instead.

This will list all available devices on your network. A list of available devices on your network will be listed, with IP addresses, MAC addresses, and device types shown. If it fails, it will likely indicate a problem with your overall network configuration or firewall.

You can take the usual steps physical checks and connection tests to try to resolve these. Me too Me to what? You are also now vulnerable?
